How to to Reduce Gasoline Consumption and Fight Rising Gas Prices

How to Fight the Rising Cost of Gasoline Prices and How to Reduce Gas Consumption

According to Wikipedia, in economics, consumerism refers to economic policies placing emphasis on consumption. In an abstract sense, it is the belief that the free choice of consumers should dictate the economic structure of a society (cf. Producerism, especially in the British sense of the term). [Citation needed]

Notice again the statement: "...it is the belief that the free choice of consumers should dictate the economic structure of a society". It is truly our free choice of consuming mass quantities of gasoline and that has dictated to us what we will be willing to pay for it.

The big oil companies are just that: companies. As with any company, to stay in business, it needs consumers of its products. That is where we come in. We simply do not have to give them our hard earned money unless we want to, at least not totally. (Communities such as the Amish probably wonder what all the anger is about!).

So what is the solution to Reduce Gasoline Consumption and Fight Rising Gas Prices?
Adopt the way of life of such groups as the Amish. Ok, now since 99% of us will not do this then we must look for other "best" ways for us.

CONSOLE GAMES ADAPTED TO PLAY ON A PC - LAWFUL OR PIRACY?

Writing by admin on Sunday, 8 of June , 2008 at 11:24 am

004_13-197x300 CONSOLE GAMES ADAPTED TO PLAY ON A PC - LAWFUL OR PIRACY?

We all know about ROMs. They are old popular console games that are downloaded to play on a PC program called an emulator. These are usually binary code originally stored in read only memory (cartridge games etc), but they also can also come as image files of old disks in obsolete formats. Of course, your normal computer cannot read the original roms without a special adapter. That is basically the role of emulators: specially written programs to imitate (emulate) the functioning of the original console. This allows nostalgic gamers to play the old titles, without the help of the console, sometimes out of market. This is while the whole issue of the vendor's EULA (End User License Agreement) comes in: * Is it violating copyright law when a game addict downloads onto his pc old roms, say the Super Mario original game, written to play on the original gameboy console?
The game vendors EULA falls within the provision of copyright law, 17 USC 106: "Subject to sections 107 through 120, the owner of copyright under this title has the exclusive rights to do and to authorize any of the following ... (emphasis added - ed.) * 2) to prepare derivative works based upon the copyrighted work etc."

This is exactly the position of console vendors such as Sony or Nintendo, who totally prohibit the copying and storing of "derivative works", including ROMs.

Changing the format from the original cartridge to a pc format therefore violates the vendor's rights to prepare derivative works under 17 USC 106.2.

The Future of Cell Phones

Writing by admin on Sunday, 8 of June , 2008 at 11:15 am

Cell Phones

As with all technologies, there is a push from handset developers to constantly bring to market innovative new designs that will greatly appeal to consumers.

Finnish handset giant Nokia introduced a concept device they dubbed "The Morph." The Morph, still very much a concept device with no intended plans to manufacture or release, takes mobile smartphone devices miles beyond what is currently available on the market today. The Morph would take advantage of nanotechnology to incorporate a wide variety of uses into one device; from the standard features of voice, and data to the more whimsical features of being able to analyze the air quality and possible contaminants on the food you are about to eat. The Morph would not just be a unique device capable of a large variety of functions; it would also serve as a unique and stylish accessory. The Morph's design would make it capable of being physically manipulated to change its form factor. It could be stretched out into a device with a full sized QWERTY keyboard, making it easier to communicate. It could be folded up into the size of a credit card for easy storage; and it could even be folded to be worn on your wrist as a watch. As already mentioned, this device is very much a concept phone. Nokia, currently, has no plans in the works to develop this concept into a viable marketable device. However, several of the features discussed in the concept will be slowly incorporated into devices that will be developed over the next few years.

Wordpress 2.51 Lost Password, Link In Email Not Valid Key issue fixed

Writing by admin on Saturday, 7 of June , 2008 at 9:55 am

Scream

Now there is an issue with 2.5.1 where if a member looses their password and click the 'Forgotten Password' link, the link in the email states "Sorry, that key does not appear to be valid."

Download the ZIP file with those two changed files here:

Please Login or Register to see the link.

Unzip it using WinZIP or something, then upload those two changed files to your site.

Now try the forgotten password thing. It should work and not have those weird characters in it. Note that they will have to generate a new email and such through the forgotten password link, this won't make those old emails magically work.

Edit: Actually, looking closer at the code, I see that it won't regenerate the key if one is already there. You'll need to clear the user_activation_key data or force it to regenerate those.

Top 10 Guides Anti Censorship Methods

Writing by admin on Saturday, 7 of June , 2008 at 9:23 am

More and more often, accessing the Internet becomes limited by the presence of censoring tools and methods (and I am not speaking of those countries where this has been institutionalized like China, Iran or Tunisia). It may be to avoid your spending too much time idling instead of working or it may be to ensure that you do not access to “questionable material”. But the Internet is highly flexible in nature and there may be good solutions to avoid this censorship.

lock

1 - Create your own proxy server

If all else fails, why not install your own proxy. In most cases, you can install one wherever you like and it will be known by you only. this way, you have a personnal anti-censorship tool that you can move any time you want. Several proxy servers written in PHP can be used for this:

2 - Use TOR

Please Login or Register to see the link. is a distributed network of proxy servers. You connect to it, your request will go to TOR and be transfered to one or more of the TOR machines. You can even participate easily to the TOR network (bringing your own PC into the network, not merely using it - it improves the quality of your searches).

4 Best Free Anonymous Internet Freedom anti censorship Tools

There is no freedom without freedom of information.

There is no freedom of information without Internet freedom.

Inform, connect, and empower the people in closed societies with information on a free Internet.

The danger of censorship in cultural media increases in proportion to the degree to which one approaches the winning of a mass audience.
James Farrell

All despotisms should be considered problems of mental hygiene, and all support of censorship should be considered as problems of abnormal psychology
Theodore Schroeder

Censorship always protects and perpetuates every horror of the prevailing forms of oppression. With us, its subtle disguises increase its evils by creating delusions of safety, liberty and democracy. It precludes that intelligence which is necessary to hasten wholesome and natural social evolution.
Theodore Schroeder

All censorships exist to prevent any one from challenging current conceptions and existing institutions.
George Bernard Shaw

Every burned book or house enlightens the world; every suppressed or expunged word reverberates through the earth from side to side.

Dreams

Hold fast to dreams. For if dreams die. Life is a broken-winged bird. That cannot fly. Hold fast to dreams. For when dreams go. Life is a barren field. Frozen with snow.
